If you fill the feeder.........they will come.
This is the 1st time I've been able to attract a hummingbird to our feeder at the cabin. It only took 2 summers...
*I've started classes so once I've "adjusted" - I hope to be back blogging regularly.

Well done Shelley on getting your first ever hummer! That's a long wait, but then you're well known for your patience! (-:
Hi Shelley,
Well done. Gosh this will be my dream too but that is not gonna happen! Your effort has been rewarded, I hope to see more nice pictures of this little bird again!
Good for you, Shelley. You are to be commended for your determination. Glad you got some great pictures in return. I'm sure she will bring back some friends in the future.
We were gone for a week and I wondered if our regular little visitor would have given up on feeding at my house, but she was there almost as soon as I refilled the feeder.
So that is where you have been, missed your post.
Patsy
Lovely shots Shelley. That must have been so rewarding when he turned up.
It was worth the wait,I hope.I never see enough of the Hummers.
Blessings,Ruth
I'm doing the happy hummer dance for you!!! Great shots.
Awww, I am so glad that you have hummers! I do not put up a feeder because I am lucky if I see one or two a year. My mom gets tons of them in TN.
Yeah!!! Once they start sipping that nectar, they are hooked (and you will be too)! Our hummers keep me entertained all summer. I'm glad they finally showed up for you.
I sent them to you. We have been having hummingbird wars. They really get mad when another one wants to come to the same feeder. I put out several, thinking that will help. Ha! But I love them. Sharon
Patience pays off. Nice photos!
Great hummer pics Shelley! Aren't they fun to watch. Best wishes with school.
Oh my I can remember my first. Come to think of it I believe it took 3 years of faithfully filling the feeders and changing th efeeders that were still full!! Then one day it happened!! I know your excitement!! Although I can honestly say your pics are fabulous!! Thanks you for Sharing them!
I was wondering what you've been up to. Love these little birds, I've got females, but haven't seen any males this year. Great captures!
Hi Shelley, Hope your classes work out okay for you. I'm proud of you for going back to school...
Cute hummingbird... AND--great pictures. We are having more around here too--so I need to get some pictures myself.
Hugs,
Betsy
She's lovely! Congratulations Shelley!
And what a lovely little lady she is. Nice photos. I read on a hummer site to count how many you see and take it times 4 and that is a rough idea of how many may be around. Our hummer activity peaked around the 20th of August and our numbers are decreasing now.
It will be so nice to see you around a little more! Know you are busy so we will take and enjoy what we can get :)
Good Luck with school Shelley!
And it won't be long till the hummers are totally out of our neck of the woods. We are down from 15 to about 6 (it appears that way!! Hard to tell as they dart around so much!).
Awesome shots Shelly!! I tried to get some to come a few summers but they never did so I gave up. I think the bigger birds scare them away. How neat to see them up close like that!!
You hit a home run!
They are so pretty.
Wow Shelley,fantastic capture.
Love it lots.
John.
How fabulous Shelley! I've had the hummingbird feeder out (cleaned and refilled every 3 days) but no hummers! Now that they have found your feeder I am sure they will be returning.
Shelley - good work! Just love those Hummers.
What a sweetie she is, and you got some great shots of the different body postures in flight feeding!
Congrats!! I remember waiting for several years before I got one at my feeders and I was jumping for joy! I know when I see a hummer summer is here and it is a sad day when I see the last one ....
Way to go Shelley. It took me longer than two years.... but was well worth the wait.
They know where you live now Shelley!!!
Great shots, Shelley! I love the hummers. :)
Love that feeder! COngrats on the first hummer, and good luck with the classes.
Great shots! Love those little birds. Took some photos this past week of one. My first shots ever of a hummingbird. I was quite proud of myself, but I wish the photos had been a little better. Really beautiful. Have a great weekend.
I feel so bad for you, because they will be leaving soon and you just got one there. Aren't they adorable? We have had a ton all summer, but there are only a few now still here on our feeders....
Worth the 2 year wait! Just wonderful!
Congratulations on your determination and arrival of the new visitor! It is such a thrill to watch these beautiful creatures and now they are neighbours! Great job on the photos!
WOW, Hummingbirds at your feeder, it should be really exciting to watch them at such close quarters.
Three cheers for you! What an adventure you are on.
We took down our hummingbird feeder after 3 unsuccessful years. So, guess who shows up at the windowbox of petunias? We, and our cats, are so pleased.
nice photos.. the red dye in the food is harmful to hummingbirds though, there's alot of information about that on the net.
Love the bright red in these photos. great shots.
