I love that puffed up look too. He looks like he has been sitting there eating way too long!
YES! I just said that this morning about a little Carolina wren that was hopping around the deck right outside the door all puffed up!
Beth
YES! What a cute photo!
Ours look fat to when they sit down in the feeder I think he is cold, your photo is so Cute.
Well, I thought were talking about mine there for a minute;-) All that holiday extra eating, you know! I don't see that cute little bird around here, but I've had plenty of others that were really puffed up.
Hi Shelley, YES---let's pat the belly... Cute little thing--but he looks so cold.
You have the same feeder that I do... I love it since they can get sunflower seeds and suet at the same feeder...
LOTS of snow here... And it just won't quit.... I love it though.
Hugs,
Betsy
Buddha birds! And yes...I want to pat those bellies too! :-) You always have something funny to say...
Yea, most definitely lol
I always feel so sorry for them out in the cold, and wonder how they survive such temperatures.
Well, maybe not pat the belly, but they are very cute. I am always amazed at the difference in the appearance of the birds when the warmer weather hits and you realize how small they really are. Your woodpecker looks like he ate too much and got stuck and now is trying to figure out how to get out of there.
...absolutely. Also, when I see a (european) robin's chest feathers blow up in the wind, it makes me alugh as it looks like that it is wearing a ballerina tutu.
love your blog and added a link to it on mine. www.corinaduyn.blogspot.com
I will be back! Thanks for sharing nature with us all.
Excellent Shelley, but it looks so cold, poor birdy!
Awww... sweet! Nothing cuter than to see them hunkered down in the wind all fluffed out to kingdom come.
Oh ya! They look so fluffy and inviting!
Wow great picture!
Haha, totally!
Yeah I gotta get out there and start taking pictures of my birds again.
Beautiful capture, Shelley!!! You make the winter soooo exciting. :D
HAPPY NEW YEAR, DEAR!
Hugs, Nancy

What a great shot. Precious little downy woodpecker--so fluffy :)
Hi Shelley, you take really nice photos. I am from The Farm where there are many birds, but have not been able to take such close-ups.
My latest post has a bird, whose name I do not know, eating the Sapodilla fruit:

I never thought of that but yes, that sounds wonderful. I wish you could cuddle them
Perfect! Wonderful image, the limb frames the chickadee perfectly
Is he missing a foot? I've looked and looked at that picture and cna't figure it out. He does look so cute and fluffy! I love all of your pictures!
