Goldfinch Glory

I truly believe spring has arrived when I see my goldfinches in their full glory color. Today I had 2 females and a male goldfinch. In the first photo, you can see the female scolding another female trying to fly onto the feeder. Now I'm trying to figure out what they were fighting about -the food or the man?!

I love the yellow coloring that they are getting and your thistle bag is really white!

They are truly glorious in their spring finery.

Nice shots! They are so fun to watch, they truly love to keep the others at bay once they have acquired their pirch on the feeder.

Are these greater goldfinches and if so then I think I get lesser goldfinches. Mine are just yellow on the underside.. But one day I had two show up that looked like these.

Monarch - my thistle bag is brand new - I'm sure it will get dirty in a few more days! Thanks for stopping by!

Birdlady - I agree!

J.Karl - I think you're right that they are little "hogs" on the feeder!

Violetlady - thank you, thank you! You are too kind!

Hi Sandy - according to my Michigan Field Guide it is an "American Goldfinch" but maybe known as the one of the other ones you mentioned??

Hi Shellmo! Thanks for stopping by and commenting.

I love your blog! Your photos are wonderful and I enjoy your narratives with them. Goldfinches are usually the sweetest of my yard birds but I've been seeing a little squabbling going on lately, too :o) Food or the man? I don't know... LOL!

I forgot to mention that Blue Jay shot on the bath is wonderful. They don't visit here. Although I know they are somewhat aggressive, I'd love to have a few.
