My new boss - the Chickadee

I've come to realize that the Black-capped Chickadees have become the boss of me. We go to our log cabin most every weekend. As soon as I step out of the car, I swear they start lining up in the trees and start chortling at me. I imagine them to be saying "Fill those feeders lady! Hurry!" And even as I'm filling them, they start surrounding me, a few land on my head or shoulders. I'll put a few seeds in my hand, and the brave ones will land on my hand, clinging to the end of my fingers and grab the seed they like best.

Here is what morning is looking like at our cabin right now.

Here is one of my bossy chickadees! Sometimes I think they peek into my cabin windows and start making their "fee bee" calls even louder to get me out there.

Lovely view from your cabin, Shelley! I think your little birds think you have a big HEART not a big head. :)

Gotta love those chickadees!

You're right! Those sweet little birds can move from friendly to pushy in a very short time. But they are still cute in either mode.

They are so cute Shelly!! I love hearing them call. Sometimes when I open the window they will fly nearer to me, waiting to see what I throw out. I swear they are talking to me sometimes.

That is to say, "Feed me!"

Well Daisy said it best - you have a big heart Shelley. We used to laugh that we are surprised they don't ring the doorbell looking for feed!

Great views of autumn colour from your cabin Shelly. I'd feel very honoured to be bossed about by these little chaps. FAB.

Hi Shelley,
What, what can I hear.... What about the loon??? are they not making you run or pad everywhere to find them ;-)
I guess it is quite nice to get so friendly with chickadees... I'd like this to happen here with our common birds!

What a beautiful sight to see in the mornings from your cabin.
And to have those little birds landing on you like that. Must be a great feeling to know they put such trust in you.

Aren't they just the best bosses? :c) Love the view from the deck there.

I know!!! We have them landing on our windowsill and they look in at us while we are eating as if to say: "Sure, take care of your own needs, and forget about us...!" They are so dang cute.
We haven't had them try to land on our heads or shoulders though...did you train them to do this?

Cute Shelley. My birds holler at me also. AND--when we were in Maggie, the Cardinals would peck on the windows begging for food. I had taken some with me ---but not enough.

Hugs,
Betsy

Chickadees are such a joy to have around. They love the peanut hearts we put out. When the feeder peanut is empty, they land on the window and "yell" at us for more.

Love the view from the cabin.

Awwww...they are so cute. You will just have to stand there and be a chickadee resting post. I'd be thrilled to have one land on me...mine aren't that friendly!

Chickadees are the best! We here them down here at our site, but can't see them! Have seen phoebes and the tree swallows have arrived. Dan saw three robins yesterday.

Hahaha! Well.....having a chickadee as a boss is pretty good. Sounds like they have you working overtime, though!! :-)
