I am hoping the migratory birds make it my way. Seems like I've been in such a birding slump lately! I took some photos of the Downy woodpecker - but none were worth posting. At least I can always count on my little chickadees! How is autumn looking in your area? We're experiencing a late Autumn here in northern Michigan.

Shelly: That is some great color on the trees, you are definetly ahead of us into Fall.
...your little Black-capped Chickadee is a sweetyheart--they are always such troopers, all winter long through those freezing temps they keep me entertained with their antics. Your fall colors are beautiful--a little brighter than ours. We're a few days to a week or so behind you I guess. I was in your state this weekend. My first time to bird there...I LOVED it. It was gorgeous....I want to live there!
Hi Shelley,
Lucky you. We are experiencing a very early WINTER here in Iceland. The snow has been around Reykjavík for weeks, especially on the mountain, which made the temperatures dropped from 10°C to -5°C in no time. And finally yesterday the snow reached us with 3-4cm on the ground. Indeed we are happy because days are getting more light when we do have snow! So temperatures are rather low now and it is difficult to go birding but i still try... beautiful chickadee shot as usually.
Shelly,
The trees look beautiful already up there I can't wait till we can go on our up north fall tour. Your picture of a black capped chicadee is great.

Gorgeous fall colors Shelly ! Hope you get more birds soon ..:-)
If it were not for the 'regulars' like Chickadees and Blue Jays,we would have almost no birds.Hoping things will get better soon. The colors are gorgeous in your are,we're still waiting for that too.
Blessings,Ruth
Beautiful colour in those trees Shelley.
Autumn is rushing in here at the moment.
And that little chickadee is a beauty.
You are a couple of weeks ahead of us in central Mn. I have a feeling we are going to go from early fall to winter in about a weeks time. Hard freeze due in a couple of days.
And it sure is beautiful up there Shelley! The pictures are spectacular. We're waiting for more color...it will come...later!
...oh!! I didn't know I was that close to you!! I always think of you being way up north in Michigan. We could have met!! Next time I'm there....I'll let you know!
I hope within the next two weeks to get out on the greenway trail and at least "see" some birds if not "photograph" them! I'll let you know what I find! Pretty fall pics today Shelley.
Our Grosbeaks are still here. It's been a week now---so I don't expect them to stay much longer. BUT--I love seeing them a couple of times a year.
Your Chickadee is precious. At least we all have them in addition to the Tufted Titmice, Nuthatches and Cardinals.
Hugs,
Betsy
P.S. Your colors are getting so pretty.
Chickadees are always fun! Hehe ;) We're having a late autumn in NB Canada as well. There's still alot of green outside, with a little bit of yellow, orange and red. I'm guessing by the end of this week there won't be much green left.
Have a good week :)
I love your little Chickie photo. So photogenic! Our colors have not yet started to pop here in SE Ohio... I'm surprised things aren't farther along there in northern Michigan. Take care! Hugs to you all.
With all our rain, the only birds we have seen in the last few weeks are my bluejays, chickadees, a few sparrows and a few chipping sparrows.
My chipmunk sure is packing away the seed though. ha
Shelley, you have some great color up there already. I'm antsy for the trees to turn their glorious autumn colors here. We haven't had many birds lately, either.
The leaves are beautiful. And the birds are scarce here in Ohio where I live.
Where are the birds? not many here. That river bank is just beautiful.

Love that little Chickadee!! It seems like the leaves are dropping so fast from where I can see that the colors aren't that good. But I did see some nice colors on my way to the doctor's this morning. I will have to take my camera and go for a ride soon. They aren't quite peak here. But will be very soon.
Your chickadee is a cutie indeed. We don't have a lot of color changing here yet, but it is starting.
Lovely chickadee shot and beautiful fall colors.
Your chickadee photo is darling. Fall is as confused here in Missouri the same way summer forgot how to behave!
I love the fall colors. We don't get too many color changes in my area.
Oh, we're just starting to see snippets of color here and there. Ours won't be in full swing until late Oct/early Nov and I am so looking forward to it! Love your little chickadee!
All I know is, it's not summer any more. :(
Beautiful reds! Not much for migratory birds here though either.
Beautiful photos, Shelley! Love the colors.
I think we are also experiencing a late fall..usually by now our back yard leaves are falling and calling our names to rake..but this year..they are still clinging to the trees and are still green!!!
Love your little chickadee..they are the cutest little birds..and always quite peppy to have around! How's your little puppy doing with your cooler temps..usually the dogs love colder weather..makes them more active!!
Beautiful chickadee shot, Shell.
We are almost in full color now. The autumn has been beautiful but very wet. A vine grabbed my leg today and I ended up in the muck while snapping photos. LOL
Have a super weekend, dear friend.
Hugs, JJ
A very cute chickadee! Our color hasn't really started and we are just having rain, rain, and more rain.
Your photos are always so beautiful, Shelley. Love to see the breathtaking fall colors! This is my favorite time of year. :)
Beeeeeeyootiful.
I think we might be right on schedule. It is beginning to turn here.
Hi Shelley, sorry your're having a birding blip....I'm sure it will pass. I'm having a great autumn so far. Have just taken a birding trip to the Isles of Scilly off the SW tip of England. A fabulous place! That last photo is lovely, I can't tell whether it is underwater or not though??? Maybe it's my comp screen! (-:
