You know what spring time means.....right?

Spring time means my Loons are coming back soon!

I can't wait to hear their haunting cry across the lake.
I can't wait to see them run across the lake faster than a jet plane on a runway.
I can't wait until they sit on their nest again.
I can't wait till they have babies and I start stressing out and yelling at every boater to watch out.

I love them and not just because they are out "state bird." Thay haunting cry at night reminds me of many days spent in the Boundary Waters. Once one followed us all the way across a lake as we paddled. :)

We only get to hear the loons when we leave the Cities and head UP NORTH.

This is an awesome photo Shelley. I was just thinking how great it is to have been blogging long enough now to know each others hobbies and passions. I always remember your love of the Loons.

Oh, Gawd....what a GORGEOUS photo of one, Shelley! I love their call, too...we hardly ever get any on our lake but I found some last year on another inland lake and stole some shots...I was so thrilled.
I hope you get some more too, this spring...!

I can just imagine how wonderful it must be to hear the Loons for the first time every year. Such a joyous sound! I'd be willing to bet they are just as happy to be back as you are to have them back.

Gorgeous, Shell!!! I am sooooo looking forward to hearing the loons while camping. The seagulls are back so it won't be long!

You are a gem on the Internet!!!

I have been walking around while the blanket of snow melts and enjoying the sense of freedom once more. Soon green buds will delight the eye!

My next book will be released on June 1st. :D Living in Michigan ROCKS!!!

Gorgeous picture! I love the sound a loon makes - it's so raw - but beautiful at the same time.

I feel your excitement! They should be up North soon, I spotted one a few days ago in the Chicago area. This year however, I did not hear them call.
