Call of a Blue Jay

I love the different shades of blue on the bird and in the sky. So pretty!

What a beautiful site! Years ago, my father and I used to fish in Grand Traverse Bay. I also used the go to the Great Lakes Lighthouse Festival near Alpena. I love the state of Michigan and it's diversity of birds. I will be adding your site to my blogroll.

Good Morning Shelley... I miss my bluejays. We had alot during the summer but they have moved on somewhere else. I've been told that they are still in the area --but they are not at my house. I'm sure those noisy birds will come back in the spring!!!!! Beautiful picture.
Hugs,
Betsy

Shelly,

Really nice photo. I have yet to capture one of this but I keep trying. I had one hiding in a bush one day and I swear he was ducking behind the leaves everytime I tried to take his picture. LOL

They say jays are quite intelligent, and this fellow surely looks it!

Blue Jays are among my favorites. I must say they are good watch dogs too and always tell me and the rest if a predator is in the vicinity.

I have a number of photos of them posted on My Birds Blog.

This is the time we give up something that was an important part of our lives for something new and entirely unknown -- 2009.

Happy New Year to you and to your family from Patty and Abe.a

Mildred - Thank you!

jayne - I had to keep waiting for him to turnaround and quit showing me his butt - lol!

Webmaster / John - Grand Traverse is a great place to fish! My hubby can vouch for that - lol! Thank you for visiting! I have added you to my blog roll!

Kallen - I've never seen a sleepy blue jay - now that would be quite the photo! lol!

Hannibal - thanks!!

Lynne- it was definitely a winter blues type of day! :)

Betsy - I'm sure those Jays will be back - you'll hear before you see them - ha,ha!

Fishing guy - many thanks!

Craig - they are quite shy for being such loud birds! I hope you get a shot of one soon!

Eve - thank you!

Jenny - thanks! I have a couple birch trees on my property and I love when the birds land on them for a photo op.

Brenda - I lucked out on that sunny day - thank you!

Daisy - still in the 'teens" weatherwise! Good thing the birdies like my feeders!

Ruth - I agree - one of the most attractive birds - and brash to boot!

Deborah - I do admire their intelligence - especially when they give their fake "hawk calls" to scatter the other birds away from the feeders. I think the chickadees are catching on!

Abe - Watchdog is a great word to describe them! Hope you're feeling better each day! Happy New Year!

I just gave my blue jays a Christmas treat, peanuts! If I fed them as many as they could eat all year I couldn't afford food for my human family:)
