A tale of 2 woodpeckers

Me: Hi Mrs. Hairy Woodpecker. Glad to see you and hope you're enjoying the suet cakes I've put on the tree for you.

HW: Ssh! I hear something...

HW: Yes, I definitely heard something and it's very loud! I'm going to go investigate. You wait here Shelley. On 2nd thought, quit skimping on the suet cakes and put some more out!

Aww...it's just a small female downy woodpecker! She is welcome to stay, but she is a noisy one for her size!

Hi Shelly, Somehow I ran across your blog today and was really taken in by all your beautiful pictures. I'm a new bird watcher and just learning their names. We have many of what you photograph so lovely. I'm sure I can learn lots by visiting your blog.
Thanks for stopping by to see me too! :)

Awesome pictures. I am so glad you have one that shows the hairy and downey side by side. I can use that as a guide because I think I have a hairy WP visiting my suet feeder, but am not 100% sure. Now I can compare using your photo.

I love seeing those two together, it's like an optical illusion!!

What a great photo for contrast of the two Shelley! I've never seen a photo with the two together, and you can really see the size difference there. Great capture!

Shelly, Like your title and dialogue. I have tried getting these two in one shot and one of them moves before I can push that button! Great job!

B&P - my hubby says when they answer me - that's how I'll know I'm crazy! LOL!

Donna - thank you so much!! I enjoyed your blog too!!

Gina - they are always moving up & down the tree like an elevator!

Leedra - at one point I had 4 woodpeckers in the same tree - but alas my lense wasn't wide enough!

Kallen - glad you could see the difference between the 2!

Eve - The hairy woodpecker had a "mini me" - ha,ha!

Jayne - thank you! I was so happy to see them together!

Fishing guy - I've gotta gather some photos of my world - so aiming for next week. :-)

Chris - thank you for your kind comments!

Denise - thank you! Doesn't that hairy woodpecker seem gigantic next to that little downy?!

Hillgrandmom - glad I have you as a visitor!!

NC - I swear I can hear their "peek, peek" noise in my sleep!

Owlman - thanks so much!

Hannibal - they certainly snarf the suet!

Jalynn - I talk to the cat, the birds - my neighbor's goat down the street. Do you think I need help?! Lol!

Daisy - I'm glad!

Tina - they are quick - and the photo wasn't as clear as i would've liked.

Gardener - thank you!!

Shelly, you don't need help for talking to all those animals. I do it all the time too. Every time I drive to work (or anywhere, for that matter), I say hi to the cows, the goats, the pigs, whatever I see. I talk to my birdies too, and wish them welcome to my feeders. My husband is used to it, but I have to be careful when I'm with other people, lest they think I'm a little crazy for talking to the animals!
