Why is this goldfinch upset?

Want to know why this Goldfinch was upset? (I could hear his noisy protests from inside the confines of my log cabin.)

Because the Pine Siskin knocked him off the thistle feeder! (P.S. I put another thistle sock out for him.) Play nice little birdies!

Those Pine Siskins are snitty little birds aren't they?

Is that big storm on top of you? Stay safe and warm in your cozy cabin.

From the glow of your pine siskin, it looks like you got some sun at your cabin. We have some sun fading away at this moment which is leading up to yet another snow dumping overnight.

We get goldfinches on our coneflowers in the winter.

I was sick during the fall a few years ago and didn't cut them back. Then we noticed goldfinches perched on them and having a great time.

Man, Shelley--our Siskins really outnumber the Goldfinch--and are definitely more aggressive. I notice that we have more Goldfinch at our feeders when the Siskins are not there!!!!

Great pictures.

Betsy

I love the goldfinch. I bought a seed sock yesterday because of seeing yours. Somehow I managed to leave without the seed, so next trip. When you first put your feeders out, how long did it take for birds to find them?

Great pair of photos - the little goldfinch really does look cheesed off! I tried putting up a thistle thock (hard not to thay that without lithping) , but the squirrels took it down before the birds even got to it!

Those two need to work things out without making you go outside to settle the argument. Of course, if you had stayed in we would have missed these great pictures!

Such a rude little pine siskin!! :)Perhaps I could send you some wild turkeys to scare the siskins off?

I have 4 thistle feeders, but even mine with trays let the seeds blow all over. Even with that much perching room, the finches still argue...

Oh, there's no "playing nice" when it comes to Pine Siskins. I just hate it when they come by in such rude numbers.

What beautiful photos, Shell. The goldfinch looks so soft and the pine siskin, determined.

How lovely you set out more thistle.

We had a hawk at our feeder yesterday causing havoc. I opened the door and scared him away.

Happy Holidays!!!
