This is what happens.....

This is what happens when you're not quiet enough walking down the dock to get a photo of migrating Common Mergansers.

Great picture. That seems to be what a lot of my pictures look like...the back end of the duck.

Aren't there some wonderful colors on those birds? In flight really shows them off.

Hi Shelley,
Well, you were not lucky, but as Dorothy said, you got them flying and a nice flight shot... I was thinking about publishing some pictures of the same species tonight that I got recently. I guess I'll wait a bit, I do not want you to be mad at me ;-) But, promise, I'll tell you my secret...

I like that photo, Shelley... At least you got it... Yesterday I saw a Pileated Woodpecker going up a tree. But--my picture only showed his TAIL... ha ha

Hugs,
Betsy

Nice take-off work Shelley. I must admit that often I prefer action shots and you captured it well here. I hope you can get some good loon shots soon.

That is a neat picture! Thought it was interesting how the feet and the beak appears to be the same color.

LOL, this happens too often, doesn't it? I scare them like that often because I don't see them until they fly away... and they end up scaring me :P
Still a cool picture of them taking off!

And I think this is the better photograph! Looking at this action I can almost hear the action. Beautiful.

Doesn't matter if I'm quiet or noisy, I don't get great shots like that! Wonderful!
