How many photos can I snap of Loons? Not enough in my case! To me, they are such interesting and complex birds. I am fascinated by their behaviors and of course love their haunting calls across the lake. Here are some of the many faces of the Loon....
An alert Loon....
A sleepy Loon.....
A messy Loon....
A curious Loon! (When the female sees me on my dock, she actually swims toward me and hangs around in front of our cabin. The male is more cautious. I am careful to give them their space and am hopeful that they will try to nest again.)

They are such magnificent pictures Shelley. John and I both look forward to seeing "your" loons. Maybe they will try to nest again. Hope you have a nice weekend.
Wonderful pictures, Shelley. The loons are such gorgeous birds... What happened to the 'old' eggs? Did another critter get them ---or did they just break up and disappear???
I hope that they do nest again.... Since they are there, I have a feeling that they will. Are you going to put out buoys or something to keep the boats away????
Hugs,
Betsy
Superb Shelley. I kind of miss your loon stories and pictures. Beautiful post!
They are so peaceful looking.
Amazing pictures!
At the risk of sounding 'loony'I have to agree that you just can't get enough pics of this wonderful feathered friend. And your pics are fantastic, thanks for sharing.
Such beautiful photos of a beautiful bird. Thank you.
I love the alert Loon photo.

They are truly beautiful I see why you love them so much. They have a certain look about them for sure. I also LOVED the picture of the fox! WOW!! Simply stunning!
Keeping my fingers crossed for your loons,
Beth
That head looks like it's made of felt! They are such beautiful birds and I love seeing your photos of them Shelley. :c)
Can never have too many pictures of such a great bird. These are excellent Shelley.
Shelly, each of the Loon pictures is so lovely. We only get to see them once a year if we are lucky. They pass through and make a short stop on our local lake.
Blessings,Ruth
It's wonderful to be that close to nature, isn't it?
Lovely shots!
Shelley I visit your blogs everyday I can for the beautiful pictures and your sense of humor! I am NEVER disappointed :) I hope they nest again too Shelley.
Absolutely perfect pictures. I wish I could get close enough for this type picture. When mine see me they always go the other direction.
No such thing as too many Loon pictures. Unless, of course Scout doesn't get posted.
You know I love the loons! Any babies yet this year?
They are so pretty. I love their eyes. You love Loons like I love my foxes..Ha!
Have you ever seen a loon swimming 'just under the water'......they swim like a bullet...but so quiet that they startle you as they pass.
Wonderful pictures you caught.

Such great pictures, Shelley! They look like they have black felt heads with red glass button eyes. :)
Gorgeous Shelley, simply gorgeous. I've to check out next week if ours are still around but the weather forecast is terrible!
I love seeing your loon pictures. I am always amazed at how low they sit in the water. Hopefully the loons do nest again, I would love to see those pics as much as you would like to take them. Thanks for stopping by my blog, I tend to like the wild flowers better than the cultivated ones.
wow...these are wonderful! I'm so jealous that you see these gorgeous birds!
I LOVE that you can get such clear closeup shots of them Shelley..when I do see some (which is rare) they are too far away for me to get them.
What mm is yours lens? 400mm? I can't remember when we met if I asked you that and I didn't have a DSLR yet..I got a 50d Canon now...omg, the lenses are expensive!
Wow,absolutely stunning pictures.
Superb.
