My Nature Day

I'm still in a birding drought at the cabin. Thought I would share what else was going on around me.

These are lily pads by our dock. Tons of frogs have been hopping around here. The Green Heron fishes here daily but I haven't been able to get a decent shot of him.

Even the turtles are hiding from me!

One of my favorite ways to photograph birds is by kayak. It makes it easy to stay quiet and get a little closer without being too intrusive. You can get a glimpse of my cabin to the right of this photo.

This isn't a nature photo, but I thought in the spirit of World Cup Soccer, I'd share my favorite soccer player...

Hi Shelley, I love seeing the log cabin from your kayak on the lake. SO pretty...

We saw some kayakers going over a waterfall on Friday... I'll post those pictures sometime this week.

Hugs,
Betsy

Your cabin looks really secluded...a nice restful place to be. I love seeing pictures of your dog. He appears to have a lot of puppy playfullness in him.

I understand about the drought. We seem to be having that here this year also...at least I am not seeing anything too unusual.

It looks so peaceful and lovely there, Shelley...I always love to take the lily pads too...I think they are gorgeous.
Can't wait for you to snap a photo of a Great Heron or Blue Heron...as you know, the big birds and the loons are my favorites!!

That looks like such a great place! Would love to be out on the water looking at all that. The turtle at least peeked out at you :-)

Hi Shelley,
Every time I see a photo taken from your kayak I envy you that experience. Being out on the water and seeing things from that perspective is just so serene and quietly beautiful. Your puppy has grown into a gorgeous dog! Don't worry about what your not seeing...what you ARE seeing is just great!and thanks for sharing.

Such a pretty soccer player too. I can only imagine our peaceful the kayak would be. I would be scared to be out on/in it, especially with my camera. Yikes.

Hi Shelley,

I just love the pics. What photography equipment do you use?

Nice series, the image of the turtle is gorgeous, maybe a eye level perspective would have been even better, however that would require lying flat on the ground though...Thomas
