Pine Grosbeak - Available in 3 colors!

Didn't realize the Pine Grosbeak could come in three colors - Red, Russet brown, and yellow. The male is the Red one. I do like all three - and they were such tame, relaxed birds to photograph. They are only in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, so this was a treat for me (as we don't see them downstate where I live.)

He is a beautiful bird. We don't have them down here either. I like the one in the red blossom.

Ah, lovely photos of a beautiful bird. I have never seen one.

Now I know why I haven't seen them just north of Detroit. They are similar to the UK sparrows - if it wasn't for their colours.

Wow! We had a pair near here several years ago, and folks from all over the Midwest showed up, hoping to see them. I was there several times and only saw them for nano-seconds at a time. Great pics.

Truley gorgeous pics, Shelley. To answer your snowy owl question, like you I followed all the snowy owl sighting in Minnesota for month to no avail. I wanted that "lifer." Then giving up an injured one showed up in a ditch a couple of days ago and I helped "rescue" it. : Posted on it a few days ago.
Also a big hi to that big Scout from Baron and me... :)
