I can't sing the Loon's praises enough of what good parents they are. It's so touching watching the family interact together. Often times I would observe the Loon father always looking back to check on the loon chicks while they were swimming across the lake.

Daddy duck is a great guy.
I am just in love with your loons!
I have seen so many loons. We live between two large "fingerlakes" in NY, but I have never had the pleasure to view babies. Thanks for this great opportunity! Wow, i can't believe you put "One man's wilderness" as you top book! I almost put that one on mine, it prob. would have been #6. Have you seem the video they did to go with it? It is really good.
Once again, great shots in the lives of the loons.
It's so interesting to watch. And these little ones grow up so fast!
Cheers, Klaus
Sandy - he definitely is!
Birdlady - me too!
Wendy - Too funny - I own a copy of One Man's wilderness and I've watched it about 5 times now! Have you seen "The Frozen North"? That is the follow up.
NC - thank you!!
KJ - I can't wait to see how big they've gotten this weekend when we head up to the cabin! Before you know it - they're out of kindergarten - ha,ha!
There's a video to go with One Man's Wilderness? I didn't know that unless its the same one I saw on PBS a while back. Have you heard of Ann LaBastille's Woodswoman? It's one of my favorites.
Thanks for the loon pic's, we don't see them here in Texas. Beautiful birds!
Adventures - I love Anne Bastille and have read the books. That "Alone in the Wilderness" is the same one you saw on PBS. Here's the link to all the movies: http://www.dickproenneke.com/
Wow! I hardly ever get to see loons! How great that you can watch this family.
