I'm hoping you can help me! Do you know what baby bird this is? It has a pretty long body. Possibly a baby Flicker? But then the colors are so muted.
Thank you in advance for your help! I'm back from Wisconsin and will now be catching up with all of your blogs!
UPDATE: Thank you everyone for identifying this bird as a baby Starling!!!

I'm not sure Shelley, but my first thought was a baby Starling? That beak looks right for it, but I'm not too confident.
I can't help but it sure is a pretty picture Shelley. Glad you are back home. How's Scout???
I can't help, but Jeep would say, "It's a little brown bird". The crazy person!
I agree with Jenny including the pale throat.
I have no idea, but it sure does look like a baby flicker...!!!
It's a young starling :) Very nice photo!
I have never seen a flicker.

Young Starling. Nice picture.
It does look like a young Starling. The beak and the eyes. They are as big as their parents, even at that age. You didn't see any others around it? They usually chase their parents for food for quite a while.
I have no idea. I'm not so great a juveniles unless the parents are nearby to give me a clue. :) I love the photo, though.
Oh yes that is a young starling in my book!! Very good pic you have there! I love birds!!
...looks like the young Starlings that have been hanging out at our feeders with their parents. They were very cute when splashing around in the bird bath (but not too cute when pecking all the other birds away from the feeders!).
Nice photo, whatever he is. I have a hard time identifying adult birds, let alone the youngsters.
That was my first though too... baby starling, with the beak as a giveaway. Cute when little for sure, then, well, not so much. :c)
Welcome home Shelley!
The beak and head remind me of a phoebe, which I had shots of on here in April because I didn't know what the bird was. I took the shots downstate, around the Mendon, Mi area. If you figure it out, let us know!
I thought juvenile starling too. I've had four of them fall down our chimney this summer! (They were all fine and we now have a chimney cap to stop this from happening again.)
GOrdon would say "Little Brown Job."
I'm glad everyone identifyed it for you....it is cute in that pose :-)
It's a little lighter gray, but I agree it's a starling. Dang.
Welcome back, Shelley! Been missing your posts. I'm not sure on the bird I.D., but it's a nice photo.
Thank you everyone for helping me to identify this bird as a baby Starling!!!
Yep, once you've seen a baby starling, you can ID every time! That dark eye mark does it for me every time.
Shelley I don't know a dang thing about this bird but I am glad to see your post and "I miss you!"
Beautiful bird.
Shelley: I have seen them around also.
You won't believe this but I posted a similar photo to my bird list for ID...LOL....a starling....
just swinging by to say hi. Your bird sure had a lovely pose for its id picture. Mine should be so nice looking, maybe you should work for the DMV - birders specials.
I can see how it is likely a baby starling, but I didn't think about it until I read further.
Lovely shot, Shelley! :)
