My Loon pair still visit our lake but alas they did not attempt to nest again. Their night music is beautiful....I cannot think of a more beautiful sound to hear at the cabin when I am headed to sleep. (I've posted a video link I found on You Tube below so you can hear them.)

The sound of the Loon is at once beautiful and eerie,I love it.Your pictures are exceptional.
Thanks for sharing your Loons with me.
Blessings,Ruth
I can just imagine how beautiful that sounds from the coziness of your cabin. Magnificent photos and thanks for the video. I wish you could have seen Harriet wake from a dead sleep and turn her head this way and that trying to figure out what the noise was!
Oh, that first shot is amazing!! I love listening to the loons calling in the evening. It's been a long while since I was far enough north to enjoy them--I really must do something about that very soon.
I love the loon sounds also... There's just nothing better. And being in your cabin and then hearing the loons----well, that's the LIFE.
Beautiful pictures..
Hugs,
Betsy
Shelley: Oh how I wish they were on my lake. Love the first photo but I wish you would have gotten the whole reflection.
These are gorgeous shots of the Loon, especially the first one. That must be wonderful to have such a beautiful lullaby.
I can't hear them without thinking of On Golden Pond. :c) Lovely...
Beautiful post....
There is nothing more pure than the night sounds of a calm lake, unless you can add a crackling campfire to those sounds. The shots are awesome.
That first picture is especially awesome! Thanks for the sound effects too. I never knew what they sounded like.
Shelley I could go to sleep to that every night. Beautiful. Your shots are beautiful too. Lucky you Shelley!
Your photos are terrific of the Loons. Their call is so - so - I don't know how to describe it. Maybe Ruth said it best: "Beautiful and eerie". Great post! Loved their songs in the video.
Stunningly beautiful in their breeding plumage. FAB.
Shelley your Loon photos are spectacular! I hope you have them framed and displayed in your log cabin ♥
Those pictures are stunning Shelley. A lovely video clip too. I can see why you love them so much.
The Loons are gorgeous, Shelley. I hope they will be able to have a successful nest on your lake next year.
Fantastic photos, Shelley, and their music is so incredible. Very peaceful sounding. :)
I especially like the first photograph with the water droplets flying in the air. Loons are such interesting birds and I love the sound of their call.
O also think the photographs of the chickadee in the previous post are outstanding.
Beautiful series, the first shot is marvelous...Thomas
Oh, how can you not love those Loons? Great photographs.
Thanks Shelley, before listening, I had never heard a loon's call. The photos were great, espeically liked the first one.
Hi Shelley, Just a quick note to let you know I will be on a short blog break to help my brother relocate from GA to CA for a new job. I'll still be visiting with everyone, just not posting. Hope you guys have a nice weekend.
I have to say I envy you your log cabin and loons! I shall enjoy them vicariously through your blog since the only time I see loons (divers) here is usually as little dots out to sea in the winter! (-:
BEAUTIFUL PHOTOS !
And what an interesting bird....in America, you have wonderful birds !
Shelley, your love for your loons says so very much! I am sorry about the loon's nesting place being disturbed and the loss of the babes in the egg. Your sadness makes me the saddest, but your joy in your loons makes me happy and hopeful for next year.Great pictures!I love the sound of the loons' cry and call.
That sound takes me back in time to canoe camping with my sons in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. What memories....
Love it! Love the loons. Thanks for sharing!!!
Gorgeous pics and yes, what beautiful and haunting sounds they make!
I love that first photo! Wonderful! They are such beautiful birds and they have such an intersting sound.
I love the first photograph! As I have said before you are so lucky to have the loons close by.
Love them too and I got some nice shots of them during the first part of our trip around Iceland ;-) Incredible... The first shot you got is stunning just as the other and the video!! Gorgeous!
OMG Shelley, that first photo if STUNNING...how you captured those drops and it shaking its head is remarkable!
