Bird Drought

I feel like I've been in a birding drought the past couple weeks. Even Bob the Mourning Dove hasn't been sticking around for good photos. Hopefully my luck changes this week at our cabin. This weekend I hope to get some shots of the new Loon baby (I think only 1 survived unfortunately.) Wish me luck!

July and August seem to be very quiet months in the backyard.. You really have to go out and hunt for subjects! Good luck at the cabin. Looking forward to Loon baby pix.

Oh My----I hope at least one loon baby lives. What happened???? DARN those predators.

The birds are sad since you aren't paying them enough attention, Shell.... They know you have a new baby in the house.

Hugs,
Betsy

It's been very quiet here too Shelley, but the Autumn/Winter crowd will soon be here.
Hope you get the baby Loon shots you want.

I've mostly just been seeing robins in my yard too. Hopefully the loons will be active when you go to the cabin.

My feeders have been really quiet too Shelley, except for house finches and mourning doves.

No drought here. We are flooded with fledglings stumbling all over the place. Can't wait to see what the loons are up to. Has Scout been to the cabin yet?

Good luck on your loon babies, hopefully they will be very cooperative!

I KNOW what you mean...I hear some birds, but not many and we are seeing even less. They must have all gone to the Bahamas. (Who could blame them with our cold, cold summer up here this year?).
I do have two families of house wrens that are singing very sweetly by our front covered porch and putting sticks in one of our bird feeders but that is all we are seeing except an occasional chipping sparrow, robins and a few hummingbirds that come to the feeder at dusk.

Beautiful tints on this baby. Hope you get lots more variety soon!

You would think this time of year we would have more photos than we could begin to post. What is wrong with us this year? Been blogging too long, and now need a break? I am not sure what it is, but I am having trouble wanting to post (even when I do have plenty of photos). I noticed you weren't posting everyday, even before you commented to me. Been doing so much other stuff...website, Etsy, knitting, Mason, Noah.....not sure where I am headed.

Oh, we understand the feeling of bird drought. And, July doesn't help with bird singing winding down. Nice blog... glad we found ya!
