Who would have ever thought to test our bird I.D. skills this way? Why ...Shelley! I am guessing a chickadee, but there is every likelihood I am wrong....so of course I will check in to see the answer and just what the little birdie got up to next.
...that's hysterical...at first I thought he was trying to chew off the branch until I realized those were his feet and not his bill! He sort of makes me think of a titmouse or chickadee (but those belly feathers seem too colorful for that). His little tail feathers are ready for an upgrade too!
Probably a Carolina Wren but maybe a Tufted titmouse like the one I posted on my birds blog. The feather colors are similar but not sure about the belly. LOL
I've seen so many bird butts that you would think I would know them all! Betsy is probably right...wren? Maybe someone should start a "Bird Butt of the Week meme". I'm sure we all would have lots of contributions!
Lord only knows! I am fairly new to birding, so I have trouble naming what kind of bird a bird is when I get a 5 minute close encounter. ha Maybe it is Peter's butt???
Well!! Remind me to never have you be around with a camera in your hand when I'm working at the library and bend over to put a book on a low shelf! HA HA!

Oh Shelley! When I'm weeding the flower beds, I worry this is what I look like!
Looks like a Carolina Wren to me....
Hugs,
Betsy
You sure did put yourself in a precarious position to shoot this perspective. I hope you got out in time.

I'm not much of a specialist in bird buttology but I will say it's a cute one.

Black-capped Chickadee! Such a cute fuzzy butt.
Bird butt, you are so funny.I will be back can't wait to see if it is a Carolina Wren.
My guess is a Chick-a-Dee.
It's a nice butt, but I cannot answer being from Europe, I do not know that much of your bird. It reminds me of one of my post ;-)
Haven't a clue Shelly - "dicky bird?"
Black-capped Chickadee is my guess.
