Ode to the Tufted Titmouse

I know I say I love every bird but I really do love that Tufted Titmouse! His cute little fish eyes - the little crest on top of his head - the weird "peter, peter, peter" song - what's there not to like?

Sweet photos Shelley!

There are 6 Tufted Titmice that visit our feeders. Their northward expansion over the last several years assured that we have them here.

What wonderful pictures of a really neat bird. Being very rare this far west and north, I have been fortunate to have had a pair at my feeders for two years now.

I love them too and I especially love your first photo today. Have a wonderful day Shelley!

Such a cute bird. I love hearing all the little songs the birds sing. The Doves have been cooing on our back deck this morning :-)

The Titmouse is also one of my favorites...The little crest makes them look "punky"-chuckle!
I always feel like I can reach out and touch the birds in your photos...

Quick story. A Downy flew into our Palladian window last week (the sound makes my heart stop). Hubby went out on second story roof, found the poor Downy knocked out completely. It was cold, so Hubby held birdie and gently rubbed until it woke up and was able to fly away. Hubby rescues all critters, including me! :-))

So cute Shelley - I wish that I could hold him perched on my finger :)

Lovely shots! They can be so hard to get to hold still and pose. I adore them, too! Titmice and Chickadees will always be at the top of my bird love list.

Love your pictures! I have a tufted titmouse who frequents the bird feeder outside my classroom windown. If I have run out of food, he sits in the tree and hollers at me until I fill the feeder. I've had to stop teaching and go fill the feeder because he is so demanding.

Sweet Titmouse Shelly,
They can be found in my area from time to time but we, in general, don't get them here and I have never had one at my place. :-( But I hope to hear them when I get down south. It's so funny, I was listening to them on my Peterson Multimedia Guide and it says "...Notes similar to those of chickadees, but more nasal, wheezy, and complaining." hahahahah how funny is that and more importantly, what do they have to complain about???!!!

I love the song, too. They're so sprightly!

They have captured my heart during my visits. FAB

I love the Tufted Titmice also, Shelley. They are such busy little birds. They'll fly in, grab a sunflower seed, and then find a place to 'beat' it open!!!! SO much fun to watch!!!!

Thanks for the great photos.
Hugs,
Betsy

I remember when I lived in Virginia how thrilled I was to see cardinals and tufted titmice at the feeder. They seemed so exotic, and still do. Beautiful photos!

This is the first year I've had probably six or so coming together to the feeders. I think they were a brood raised last spring. :c)

Totally agree! They are really fun birds. That first picture you took is way cute. Nice work, Shelley...course, I'd come to your feeder too if you're putting out Zingerman's pecan cranberry bread!
