"Shellmo said...I'm still in awe! That chestnut starling is beautiful! (are you digiscoping? I'm still learning to use my camera and thinking about a digiscope...)"
These pictures are all shot with Nikon D300 with a Nikon 300mm f2.8 lens with a 2X teleconvertor. They are not digiscoped.
Incidentally I started bird photography with digiscoping, however soon realised that digiscoping is a little cumbersome for restless subjects like these tiny birds. Digiscoping has its advantages, but not when light is at premium. All these shots are taken in overcast conditions.
Shelly, these are amazing pictures of your Nuthatch!!! We have them also--but I have found it hard to get a good picture of them. I do have a couple ---and it's interesting to note the blue color in them when the sun shines on them. When the sun is not on them, they look gray. Beautiful little birds... Thanks for sharing!

Shelly: It is no wonder I confuse the Chicadee and the Nuthatch. They are really similar birds.
"Talk to the butt".
So cute - Feisty little things, too.
WOW...You have got him/ her in all possible angles and here I m still struggling to get a decent shot of this beauty in the wild
Sweet pictures of this fun little bird. I just love watching them running up and down the trees.
Shelly, LOVE your pictures and comments! Getting up-close pics of these little guys isn't easy, and yours are so vivid. Great job!

Love your little nuthatch! He's got all the angles.
LOL- love it!!!
How did you get him to pose like that? Mine would never give me three sides.
Terrific photos!!!
Another one of my favorite birds! I could watch the nuthatches all day.
I think you have this bird trained.
He's such a cutie!
Cute post! Nuthatches are such characters aren't they? The beep-beeps, I just love em!
Thank you everyone for stopping by & for your comments!
