Shelly: What a nutty Nuthatch to take your nut and sit right there. I think I finally get the difference between these two. The Chickadee has black on its chin and the Nuthatch has white. Am I correct. Now I hope I can see the two in nature. They are really fast little birds.
Bless the little nuthatch! Mine are coming on a regular basis and I hear them at the feeders before dawn. I also have two male cardinals, three bluejays and one downy. I know more will be coming soon.
What a nut!! Shelley I had 3 bluebirds passing through and two adult bald eagles waaaay up high! It was a good day!
It's time for me to fill up my feeders for the chickadees and nuthatch.
What a great shot Shelley!
Why do some birds just take one treat from a feeder and leave, eat and then come back to take one more piece and leave, while others linger to eat? Getting a great picture, like you did of a nuthatch with a nut, is a challenge...only wish the beautiful woodpeckers and nuthatches were the ones to "linger" and eat!! As always, a very nice shot!
He's a little cutie!
Fishing guy - i'll have to get a photo of them all together for you!
Gardener - you have a nice visitor selection over there!
Eve - I'm envying your seeing an eagle!
Birdgirl - I bought that birdfeeder from a small shop in northern mich. This guy collects the stones and fashions these beautiful bird feeders and houses.
Jayne -thanks!!
Tina - the chickadee does that one at a time thing too! It is funny!
Birdlady - i think their faces are so cute and friendly!
First,Thank-you for your comments on my blog.I took a look at your birding blog and have found the pictures and commentary to be very interesting. Also looked at some of your fall pics and all I can say is WOW!I will be visiting again.
Ruth - thanks so much for your comments & coming by! I enjoyed your blog and will be back too!
I love the little nutty and their "yank yank" contact calls. Mine have been taking BOSS to cache for a couple of weeks...
How clever that you know all the names of the birds. When I see an unknown bird I grab a book to look it up. But I'm always late. Sometimes I pick up the right name.
Thanks for visiting.
Awesome! I just posted a few birds but they're hardly this good.
:-)
Aren't nuthatches fun? I usually hear them much more than I see them
Beautiful nuthatch, and I love your feeder, too.
