Orangepoll or Redpoll??

I know sometimes a bird's diet can play a factor in their coloring. So what orange food was my Redpoll eating? LOL!

OH MY WORD... he is so cute. Thank you for sharing this little fellow. It amazes me how close you can get to these creatures. I took some shots at geese today... from the inside of my home.
Happy Wordless Wednesday!

I hear that the lady down the way has been putting her pumpkin pies out on her window sill to cool and was wondering why they had little holes dotting the custard.

Beautiful shot and I've never had an orange one.

Good thing you got a picture of him. I often see birds that vary just a bit from the bird book pictures..and wonder, if there is no one taking pictures of all the birds , and often people viewing the birds have little knowledge of what they are seeing, than there are probably a LOT of birds that just don't fit the bird book description . He is a cutie, isn't he? Maybe he is the rebel in the family and this temporary aberration will disappear as he matures.

I actually researched this when I lived in the Alberta foothills, and saw a number of interesting pale birds. It's called leucism; similar to albinism only w/o the pink.
