I've thought about those net type feeders for finches; do you think they waste as much seed with them as they do with regular tube feeders? Also, the nuthatch shot...is that a concoction of feed you put together or something you bought made up? What all does it contain??
Loved the photos of the yellow finches..we have only seen a couple at our thistle and seed over the last week. We have a lot less of them than last year!
Thank you everyone for stopping by - I enjoy your comments so much! (As well as YOUR blogs!)
Cathy - I do think they waste thistle on the net sock but I like the convenience of washing it after they finish it off and filling it right back up. Seems easier than scrubbing their other feeder.
Bird Girl - this wasn't with my new lens - but thank you! But I will have to take that "bad boy" out some more! I definitely need a tripod!
Leedra - happy to hear about your new grandson!! And the siskins apparently have taken up permanent residence at my cabin...
Hi mary - there should be some peanuts at your local feed & grain shop. Our Ace Hardware store has one.

Awww! What beautiful close ups of these birds!! I love those bright yellow finches. I haven't seen any around here.
...that little nuthatch is so cute, and it looks like your siskins are still around!
Nice close-ups! I love them all but the nuthatch is my favorite!

Great close ups Shelley. Stunning colour combination of the first.
Eye catching! :))
It is so fun to see them with their mouths full, especially when they are gathering to feed babies. :c)

Great pics Shelley! I'm sure none leave your yard with an empty tummy.

Wow you still have Pine Siskins!! Your shots are perfect and you always capture such cute poses!!
You have such terrific close-ups! Love the nuthatch - about to put that nut down the hatch, I guess...
See you still have Pine Siskins, unless this is an old phot. All 3 are great.
We have a grandson, not home, so can't post photos yet. Noah weighed 10-4 and 22 1/4 long.

Looks like you're workin' that new lens! Love these photos, especially of those oh-so-yellow Goldfinches.
These are all great! Where do you buy your peanuts? I wish I knew where to buy a large quantity of them for the birds already shelled like that.

Really nice shots of all three birds, Shelley! Course, I'm not as in love with the siskins as you are... :-)
Gorgeous yellow goldfinches! Our males are just starting to get that bright again.
