Meet my new neighbor

Sure, she's not a Loon or Wood Duck or a Chickadee, but I will still take her as a neighbor!

Hi Shelley,
Wow impressive where they can build their home sometime!! It is a very unstable structure there, but let's hope they will be able to manage. At least you can follow them during breeding time and see the little babies in a while. Gorgeous shots.

The red, red robin goes bob, bob, bobbing along. Your photo made me sing, Shelley! :D

The best sort of neighbours to have. Be good to follow their progress into the world.

I like the way this robin has found a place that perfectly matches her plumage. Love the colors as well.

I would make them feel very welcome Shelley :-)

Like skunk cabbage to my nose, a robin to my ear is spring.

I was noticing the things she has strewn around her nest, and also what has been woven into it. I still find it amazing what birds can do with just 2 feet and a beak!

And here I thought by the title that one of your human neighbors had actually been friendly...have you been able to connect with any of them? Oh well, if not, at least the birds are more photogenic! And probably way more interesting.

What a nesting place! They amaze me sometimes at the locations they will choose.

I have a robin just above my porch light with 2 babies. It is my main entrance so coming and going has been disruptive. But, she must be getting used to me, because she doesn't flush off quite as often anymore. She's a better neighbor than I am.

If I was a robin, I would want to live in a log home too! I loved your picture of the Bufflehead. Never have seen one before and the Grosbeak pic was awesome.
You always make my day with your beautiful photos. I really love them all.

Is that nest as carelessly thrown together as it looks at first glance? Or is the bulk of the nest out of sight?

I heard the beds were comfy and the yard full of yummy worms at this hotel!!

The best type of neighbor. Look at all those lovely items they have found to build with. And how nice of you to provide a sheltered space for their new home.

I always get excited when I see a bird nest...with high hopes of catching the action of feeding babies... Will be looking for that pictures soon!

That's the most post-modern (to be kind) robin's nest I've ever seen! Hope is doesn't blow over in a good wind!

Love this photo, Shelley. We had a pair nesting under our deck (over the walk-out patio), but some blue jays discovered them last week. The robins tried their best to defend the nest, making quite the fuss all day and chasing the jays. The next morning the nest was on the patio and the eggs were all broken. I hope your robins' brood will fare much better! We've got another pair nesting in the crook of our beech tree and so far they are doing well.

In other news, I saw a rose-breasted grosbeak this evening. It's the first I've ever seen in Ohio and I was terribly excited. Thought you'd enjoy sharing my happiness. (My kids like birds, but they don't quite understand why I get so excited about them.)

Shell, that nest looks like it may have a patio. :D What a great photo!!! We have phoebes nesting on our log building under the roof overhang. What a special time of year. :D

Can't wait to see your robin's blue eggs!!!

Hugs, JJ

Good luck to your Robin!
We had one work and work for two days on the same location on our log home, and the wind kept blowing it down. She was persistent, but on the third day she gave up and moved on.
I got some great shots of the acrobats she did building it, I should post.
