I have a bad habit that some of you are already aware of - I attach human characteristics to my birds! But believe me when I say that this female grosbeak is just so sweet and trusting. I was trying to handfeed the chickadees and she stood on the railing just inches away observing me. And then proceeded to stay there and pose nicely while I snapped photos. (I snapped about 50 photos of her - she is now competing with the Loons for my heart!)

Now I will delete each and every of my Grosbeak photos. (Good that I don't have any! ;) )
Gorgeous photos! Especially the first!
Cheers, Klaus
Klaus - okay - you got me!! P.S. Thanks for the focus tips on your addendum email - much appreciated!
She is precious!! Two females were visiting me yesterday and I couldn't get enough of them. Mine were not nearly as trusting as yours.
She's beautiful, and the photos are great!
Jessica - glad you're seeing them too!
birdlady -thank you very much!
Oh Shelley! Just a beautiful, sweet bird and your pictures are phenomenal! I think female and immature grosbeaks are really lovely to look at!
Birdgirl - thank you! I am quite taken w/ the female grosbeak even though she doesn't have the brilliant colors of the male - she has her own quiet beauty.
Lucky you , my birds are mostly staying in the woods .....it is so very hot here. Next year in July we have a conference to attend in Grand Rapids..we want to go to Traverse City afterwards. Looking forward to that.
Aww she is so pretty! Nice sweet face!
Have you ever seen a blue grosbeak? I had never seen one until I was visiting my mom in TN and she gets them all the time in her feeders! They are beautiful.
Shelley, she does indeed have a sweet look about her. We have grosbeaks for short periods during migration and I really love having them.
So cute! I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who gives birds human characteristics!
Oneidia - traverse city is a lot of fun! Good places to eat!
Wendy - I haven't but I bet they're beautiful! You'll need to post a pic of 1 in the future!
NC - that's great that they stop over during migration - that's when you see the neatest birds in my opinion.
Bobbi - you got that right! :-)
She has a really sweet face! She looks like she trusts you! That's a nice compliment from Klaus too!
Shelly, My grosbeaks are so skittish, they fly as soon as I get close to the window. She is adorable. Wonder if she is a young one?
She's a real beauty, Shelley. And great photos of her. Has she been a daily visitor?
Amazing! I have only attempted to get close to a female grosbeak a few times, but she wasn't having anything to do with me, so I think you have an extraordinary friend there! How cool is that! Really great photos of her too! Good luck with the handfeeding!
