Hungry Chickadee

Yesterday I had a flurry of Black-capped Chickadee activity. There's a family (or gang) of about 9 that were flying around sampling all my feeders. I had one land on my head for about a second as I was refilling a feeder - can I tell you how much that thrilled me?

Beautiful pictures of the Chickadees; We have groups of Tufted Titmice, Chickadees and Nuthatches at our feeders off and on all day. Keep the great pictures coming. I love them!!!

I do so love the friendly little chickadees. They are always the first ones to try a new feeder. Great photographs.

Shelly: Very nice pictures of the little fellows, they are weary and quick when not at a feeder.

Gotta love those little guys. We have about 4 visiting us too.
They will still with us here in conditions as low as minus 50 degrees.

I LOVE your bird pictures! We just snapped some pics of a Downy Woodpecker here in West Michigan this morning. He was pecking away at a dried up reed. If they turned out I will post some on our site http://www.sqwahr.com.

These are great! I can imagine exactly how jazzed you must have been to have that bird land on your head. What a moment that must have been! :-)

One of our favorite birds, especially in the winter.

They spend more energy, getting their one seed and flying to safety to eat it, than seemingly its worth.

Well done and great photos.

Come visit anytime,
Troy and Martha

PS: Alaska Sunday Hope, AK photos are up today.

Shellmo, I would love to have a chickadee or any other bird feel that safe with me. I've had the hummers come close, but no landing yet! I love chickadees! Nice pics!

I like how your beautiful pictures are always so full of detail. Mother nature goes to so much trouble to create all those textures and colors and so much of it we miss! Great job. Thank you very much for visiting my blog. I appreciate you taking the time to visit. Stop back again!

I've noticed an increase in my Chickadees too. I'm hoping they are going to be more adundant this winter. I rarely saw them over the summer. Great photos of them you got!!

Gorgeous chickadee pics, Shell. I wish we didn't have bears so we could feed the birds now too. Lucky I have this blog to come to.

Hugs, JJ

How cute the little chickadees are - I love the background of the fall leaves, too!

I just love chickadees! Your pictures are wonderful - I can see all the detail and colors. I haven't seen any at my feeder - I think they like living up north better.

Chickadees seem to be cheerful little dears. They are spunky, for sure, flitting in and out under the nose of the jays and cardinals, seizing a seed and dashing off. I enjoy their noise, but have learned that they become most noisy when alarmed...like when I'm interupting them as I fill the feeders or wash out the bird bathes.

Still, they make me smile. Chickadees=happiness.

Betsy - i love those groups of 3 - thank you!

NC - You are right about them coming to the feeder right away - it's such a joy to have them!

Fishing guy - They are fast!

Nick - last winter I had a band of 9 of them - hope the same is true this winter!

Michelle - I love the downy! I'll have to come ck him out on his blog!

Sandy - gracias!

2Sweet - it's like a little angel tapping me on the head! :-)

Texas - you are right about their energy!

Kathie - glad you're a chickadee fan too!

Tina - you are too kind! And you have an excellent blog! I'll be a regular visitor!

Jess - I expect to see a photo of one in your hand this winter!! :-)

Nature Nut - I wish there were some sort of indestuctable bird feeder that your bears couldn't wreck! Drats!

nature girl - I love all their little happy sounds too!

Birdgirl - pretty soon my backdrop will be snow!

Muse - aw shucks!

Don - you are so right! I have come to learn when I upset them and when they feel comfortable w/ me by listening to all their different calls. I especially like the "fee bee" call when they are reassuring each other and letting each other know about their territory.

Beautiful photos of the chickadees.

Come by, see the award I gave you. I think you don't do awards, but I wanted to give it to you anyway.

Chickadees are so cute - so flighty, they zip here, zip there, with never-ending energy. Great photos, Shelley!
