I'm hoping I will be that "early bird" when I visit the nursery today for more rose bushes! Great post, I am so ready for warm sunny days... joy c. at grannymountain
Isn't it so true? Great photos. I've seen a Robin stretch that rubbery worm at least six inches before. I had a photo of it published in Birds & Blooms a few months back. Those ol' worms hang on for dear life!
Oh gak!! Well, there's something out there for every taste... And great shots, regardless. We see them so often it's easy to forget what handsome birds robins are.
It's not raining in your shot but reminded my of this Raffi kids song: Robin in the rain, Such a saucy fellow. Robin in the rain, Mind your socks of yellow. Running in the garden on your nimble feet, Digging for your dinner with your long strong beak. Robin in the rain, You don't mind the weather Showers always make you gay. Bet the worms are wishing you would stay at home.
Shell, are these worms making a mess out of your yard or is it just in da U.P? It is almost impossible to walk evenly due to all the underground activity of these worms! And they are HUGE this year! Must be all the rain!

Classic! I love sitting and watching Robins get a mouth full of worms to take back to the nest.

Great photographs. Now run out and document some other wise sayings for us...like a bird in the hand worth two in the bush.
That's why us Early Birders get up early!
