Nothing to do with birdwatching....

But here's my future bird watcher - my Bernese Mountain Dog puppy!

She is 4 weeks old and will be ready to come home at the end of June. I'm hoping I can take her in the kayak with me to look for Loons....

P.S. If you'd like to see what a Bernese Mountain Dog looks like once they are all "grown up" - CLICK HERE.

Teddy approves!!!! So does Teddys mom. I wanted one several years ago but the deal fell through. What a little sweetie. Name? Teddy says you need big bones for this gal. Sharon

She is so darn cute!!! I cannot look at her for very long though...it makes my resistance to getting another dog very weak....enjoy many, many years with her!

If you get her kayak trained as a pup, you will have to get her her own one as an adult.

How wonderful! I had thought no females were available, so I'm especially delighted you will be getting her so soon. They are marvelous dogs and seem perfect for your lifestyle. And with all that extra weight in the kayak, your arms will rival Michelle Obama's in no time.

Oh Shelley, she is beautiful!! I've always wanted a Bernese or a Swissie! I see great posts ahead, and there is one thing I love more than birdwatching and it's puppy watching!!

Hi Lynne - we're drawing up a list of names for her - it's so hard!!

Betsy - I'm still thinking of names...I want it to be perfect!

Birdgirl - I went and checked out that post - thanks!! I have loved these dogs for a long time and am so excited to get one. They have the best personalities!

Fishing guy - thank you! I think she's a cutie pie too!

Carol - Thank you! I am so excited to be getting her!

Elaine - I think she will make the perfect outdoor companion (other than my hubby of course - lol!)

Sharon - I'm so glad Teddy likes her! You're right about the big bones. She will get between 70-90 pounds! Yikes!

Holding MOments - thank you! I love their temperament and I'm looking forward to bringing her along on my outdoor adventures!

Cathy - I think it's a rule if you live in northern Michigan, you have to have a dog! LOL!

New England - They're pretty calm dogs - I'm hoping I can get her used to the kayak early on in her puppy years - we'll see. You're right about them getting big!

Jayne - thank you! You should've seen her giving my hubby puppy kisses!

Knatolee - I was editing a movie I made of her last night - LOL!!

Richard - You're probably right! Too bad they don't make side cars for kayaks - ha,ha! I may have to get a canoe.

Ruth - I feel like she will complete our family! :-)

NCMountain - I lucked out! One of the other people wasn't ready for a dog so it left this female for me!

Daisy - her eyes are heart melters for sure!

Ginnymo - I've missed having big dogs around - as a kid we always had labs. I am looking forward to bringing this dog along with me on my adventures!

Oh, what a cute puppy! I'll always have a soft spot for baby animals, and especially puppies. Sometimes I wish they could stay puppies instead of growing up. On this same topic, I saw a Burmese Mountain Dog (I presume full grown) when we were in Alaska, and yes, it was a very big dog.

Thanks for stopping by my blog, and thanks for your comment.

Maybe she'll be able to pull you in the kayak. These guys get big. Congratulations on the addition.

Hey congratulations on the pup! Sitting in front of my highly neglected Reader today for a slight break and saw this! So excited for you, can't wait to see pictures of you and your new pup in the kayak!

We have a giant hairy black and tan mutt gaurd dog that we will have to replace someday soon and I have been seriously considering the Bernese as his replacement.
