I want everyone to know that my husband was such a saint when I had him cruising his fishing boat all over the lake to search for my Loon family. We were way at the other end and had been looking for over 30 minutes when we heard the haunting Loon call from the other side of the lake. I was a backseat driver telling him to "be quiet", "no, go over there", "don't upset them" - anyways - thank you honey!
And look how big the babies have gotten! I love them!

They are so cute! I wish I had a lake or pond big enough for water fowl; I think they are so graceful!
Ha! that is so funny, that is so like me. Whenever my husband and I are canoing I make him follow the loons all over the lakes so I can see how close we can get (to get a better view. I tell him, don't move, don't make a sound! He is so good about it.
Love those loons!
Those "babies" have really grown. They grow so fast during the summer.
Great photo.

Awww...so cute. Soon they will be punkish teenagers...what will mama do then.
Hi Shell.... I just bought a new book called "Good birders don't wear white". It's 50 birding tips/essays from the top birders in the US. It's really an easy entertaining book. Anyway, there is a story in the book about Loons. This particular birder said that if you wave a white flag in the air it will bring loons out in the open to investigate. Let me know if you try it. I'd be curious to know if it really works.
Oh my! They are really growing. Nice shot.
So glad you found them. I love them too - you've let me feel that I know them. Thanks, Mr.
Thet grow so fast. I love it when they are small and do the back riding bit. My mourning though are have been here since last fall. They are loyal, not greedy and excellent parents.
Bobbi - they are even cuter in person!
Wendy - like you - I boss him in the canoes too! ha!
Texas - very fast - I'll be sad to see them go.
Sandy - their teens are coming soon - at 13 weeks they'll be able to take care of themselves.
Jess - I am going to have to get that book! And I'm going to try the white flag idea next weekend and see if it works - thanks for sharing!!
NC - thank you! Growing before my eyes!
Birdlady -glad you enjoy the family update too!
troutbirder - I wish I had seen them on that "riding the back" stage - maybe next year!
I thank you too, Shelleys husband! They ARE getting big! Thanks for documenting their journey growing up!
I have never seen juvenile loons before. How prescious they are! How priveleged you are!
