My Computer Crashed!

My computer crashed yesterday and I am devastated! I did not have all of my photos backed up and we are hoping to find someone to recover them. (The Geek Squad at Best Buy did not come through.) I will have sporadic access to my hubby's computer and it looks like I might need to get a new one. I hope to be back and running next week! Don't forget about me!

So sorry Shelley. I hope you can find someone who can retrieve your pictures. We have everything of ours backed up on an external drive. There are also sites online which will store your photos --as a back-up.

We'll miss you.. Hurry back.
Hugs,
Betsy

What a total bummer. Mine got blasted a few years ago by a lightening bolt along with the dish, microwave, TV etc.

We will never forget you....we are waiting on the loons this summer! There is software out there to recover photos, but that may just be from memory cards when they mess up.

We'll be here!! Hope you find a good geek, you always hear that nothing is ever truly lost on a computer...maybe you need some retired CSI type...!!

Shelly: Bad news for all of us. It is a lesson for the photographer to back up their photos.

I am so sorry Shelley! We just went through this ourselves. It was weeks of major work to recover our hard drive but we were finally successful. I hope you can recover your photos as well. I know exactly how you feel. I learned a lesson and have since been backing up my photos. They are too precious to lose. I'm really hoping you get them back!!!!

Bummer!

Recovering data on a crashed HDD can be expensive.

Horse out of the barn so to speak but when you are up and running again. I use this backup plan.

1) External drive for immediate backup
2) Burn to a CD or DVD disk

*Sidenote on cd/dvd, due to the varied makeup and manufacturing QA burning three copies is best.

One copy is a Master, another is a Safety and the last is your Working copy.

The master and safety are stored while if needed the working copy is the disk you work from.

Overkill? Depending on your photos, one can never be to careful.

I hope goes well for you.

Sorry to hear about your photos and computer. There must be something in the atmosphere. My camera just died on me too, so I will be having to purchase a new one too.

Can you try your disc and try a repair. My husband did that with mine and I didn't lose the photos. You know, your installation discs...

it worked...if you need help you could email me and my husband could talk you through it....

I thought everything would be lost

Sorry to hear about your computer crash Shelley. Hope you can recover your data.

Something to think about when you get your next computer. I use an external 1 terabyte hard drive to save photos only. Every month, I burn my photos from the past month onto DVD's. These DVD's are kept in a fire safe.

This is the safest way I know how to keep my photos from succoming to the crash.

Good luck!
