Puffed up Downy Woodpecker

This puffed up Downy Woodpecker graced me with his presence today and enjoyed the peanuts. I think Mr. Grackle extended him the invite!

Glad to see you are getting some birds back!

Your grackles must be far nicer than ours. No way would any of our grackles share with anyone, much less a cute downy.

I really "J" of you...We go to forests to see this bird and in your case it comes to your home...WOW.

You might want to consider holding the flash away from the camera using the "off-camera shoe" to avoid the eye-shine

Shelly: What a neat shot of the wood pecker. I had them in the Buckeye Tree on Sunday.

Beautiful downy woodpecker, Shell. If you apply solid shortening to your gloved and padded fingertips this woodpecker will land and have a great snack. :D I keep my eyes closed and wear glasses, only peeking at him now and then.

Hugs, JJ

I am returning to this one. You captured the red on his head so well. I know I am repeating myself, but this is a great photograph.
