Shelley, Our bluejays have gone for the winter. I was surprised since the books say they are year-round visitors. When they were here, they'd come to the feeders regularly --and let us and everyone else know that they were here!!!! I liked them mainly because they would scare away the squirrels!

Shelly: Well done with the Blue Jay. They can make quite the racket. You should join Camera Critters and share your birds with the group.

Blue Jays can be pretty bossy. My grandmother used to chase them away from her feeders because she didn't like how they chased away the smaller birds! :D

Great capture of the bluejay "dog" fight"! I once saw a chickadee on its way to my feeder bump my window, just hard enough to make a kind of half-bounce half-flutter in an downward arc. It that split second, a jay came out of nowhere and tried to grab the 'dee before it even hit the ground. I'm sure if the jay hadn't been around, it would have landed on my porch and rested for a bit, but it did an amazing shake-off in mid-air and managed to get away from the jay! I think the jay was headed to the feeder as well, but tried to take advantage of the chickadee's mistake.

Think we all get to see that at some time or other. We used to have a Blue Jay that would wake us to get his peanuts every morning. He never did understand...we work evening shift.

My bluejays sometimes get into scraps like that too, but I've never been lucky enough to get pictures. Nice shot Shelley!

Selfish Bluejay!!

Really cool how you captured the fight. That is the way with wildlife photography, hours go by with nothing special happening then in a split second an unforgettable moment occurs. Most times we are not prepared to capture the moment. Well done!

Lynne - me too!

Denise - and it continued this morning!

Rambling - yep!

Betsy - surprise the bluejays leave you in the winter - they're pretty hearty survivors!

Fishing guy - I think I just might join camera critters!

Daisy - bossy is a good word for them!

Deborah - glad your chickadee made it - I love those little things!

Leedra - mine seem to be a little skittish of me!

Ruthie - thank you!

Lets paint - me too!

Eve - yes - just a little selfish...ha,ha!

Salty - you're certainly right about that - it's all about the moment and being there at the right time!
